E-Health

The Midwest GP Network is committed to support the healthcare transition to e-health and has been part of a consortium with Wheatbelt GP Network and Great Southern GP Network to promote MMeX system in our region. MMeX is a complete e-health platform offering shareable electronic health record, medication management, Telehealth, structured care plan as well as a secure messaging system.

CAT Disease PopulationOur aim is to use widely the MMeX secure messaging system to send referrals, reports, medicine reviews, discharge summaries electronically and securely between the different health providers of the region. GPs, Pharmacists, Specialists, Allied Health, Nurses, Hospital ward and staff have their account: Join them… by contacting Eric Noel on 99 207 100.

To help practices, nurses and GPs to provide better continuous care of patients, the Network offers the use of the Canning Data Extraction or Pen Clinical Audit tools in the region. These tools extract and present aggregated patients information to the practice staff. Practice staff can produce list of patient who falls into selected target groups, making population health and quality care initiatives simple to measure and act upon. Business opportunities can be identified.

Personally Controlled Electronica Health Record - known as PCEHR:

No early PCEHR site has been allocated to Western Australia.

However on the 1 July 2012, all consumers should be able to sign yup for the PCEHR system. The PCEHR will include summary health record (conditions, medications, allergies and vaccinations) and an indexing summary of specific healthcare events). As we are moving closer to the date of July 2012, NeHTA (National eHealth Transition Authority (NeHTA) and the Department of Health and Ageing have promotional material how the PCEHR will affect our practical experience of the health system :

-         The Health Beyond publication is provided by NeHTA: This is also a good resource to encourage practices to keep in their waiting room. Further information can be viewed here: http://nehta.gov.au/media-centre/healthbeyond-magazines

This youtube video was produced by the Department of Health and Ageing , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdr2Co9EKvs, demonstrating how the PCEHR will change the “consumer experience”.  (this video can be replayed in waiting rooms).
